BETTER TOGETHER: Lauer CE-Safety GmbH becomes part of Lebbing automation & drives GmbH

Thomas Lebbing is co-founder and Managing Director of Lebbing automation & drives GmbH. We spoke to him about the merger of safety specialist Lauer CE-Safety GmbH into Lebbing automation & drives GmbH.

What does the merger with Lauer CE-Safety mean for Lebbing?

The merger has allowed us to pool our expertise. This has enabled us to create a great deal of trust in the market, among our employees and the companies in the Jagenberg Group, to which we belong.

There is a very intensive exchange between the companies involved, especially within the technical teams. Basically, we have been bringing the now merged company to life since January 2020, when Lebbing bought Lauer CE-Safety GmbH. As part of the transformation process, for example, we have since then stationed some newly hired Lauer CE-Safety employees directly at Lebbing in Bocholt.

How do employees perceive the process?

We have gained a great deal of expertise from which we all benefit in our day-to-day work. We learn from each other on a daily basis, in joint projects and also as part of joint training courses. This transfer of knowledge opens up new horizons for us.

And boundaries between people are also falling. We no longer see ourselves as two companies, but as one team that lives cohesion - and the merger enables us to tackle exciting tasks together.

Employees are more mobile between companies. We can now make it much easier for them to develop further and try out new things outside their area of experience.

What are the advantages of the merger for customers?

First of all, security is a top priority across all industries. Trust plays a key role here.

This is where Lauer CE-Safety is firmly established as a partner for comprehensive advice on CE marking. By merging, we are able to offer our customers efficient processes and dynamic, integrated solutions.

You can rely on the know-how and combined expertise of two specialists. The combined strength and the resulting innovative spirit are fundamental advantages for Lebbing and the entire Jagenberg Group.

Are there plans to open up new sectors?

Lebbing focuses on the web converting sector. Lauer CE-Safety, on the other hand, has a cross-industry presence thanks to its machine and plant safety services.

We will maintain this and continue to offer the services of Lauer CE-Safety in all industries in which they are in demand. We will also expand these areas. This is very important to us and the Lebbing team will also contribute to this.

Lebbing, on the other hand, will continue to grow as a result of the merger in the area of functional safety. We will be able to offer our customers an extended range of products and services from a single source.

This will enable us to expand our market position as a joint company.

Which processes are most affected by the merger?

At a technical level, we have been working closely as a team for three years now. Our processes are efficient and well-coordinated and will not be affected by the merger. The merger has already taken place here.

In administration and in the commercial area, many things will be simpler if, for example, interfaces in accounting are eliminated. This will bring a lot of advantages that will simplify work. We initiated this change process three years ago and the de facto merger marks the end of it.

What new perspectives does this open up?

The integration of Lauer CE-Safety gives us the opportunity to gain insights into new industries and gain a foothold there.

But fundamentally, we at Lebbing and in the Jagenberg Group are and will remain very strongly focused on converting systems.

Within this focus, however, we also take a closer look at certain product types: After all, there is not THE printing system, but a multitude of different ones. Lauer cooperates with various printing press manufacturers when it comes to risk assessment, operating instructions and functional safety. Through these services, we gain experience that we can use as Lebbing.

Addressing the market together is of course a great advantage from which we all benefit, which creates prospects and allows us to actively shape the future. This is how we fill our corporate mission statement "Create.Future.Together." with life in a very practical way.

Mr. Lebbing, thank you very much for the informative interview!
